Actor Anthony Geary, best known for his role as Luke Spencer on “General Hospital,” has died, according to multiple reports.
Geary was 78 years old.
The 8x Emmy winner died on Dec. 14 as a result of complications from a previously scheduled operation, TV Insider reported.
Geary is survived by his husband, Claudio Gama.
The backstory:
Geary grew up in Coalvilla, Utah, and was raised in a Mormon household. He had three sisters.
Geary attended the University of Utah, where he began performing. He was discovered during his sophomore year and cast in a touring stage production of “The Subject Was Roses,” according to TV Insider.
This launched his acting career. Geary moved to Los Angeles, California, in the late 1960s and hit the ground running, appearing in popular TV series such as “The Partridge Family,” “The Mod Squad,” and many more.
He landed his role on “General Hospital in 1978 as Luke Spencer and became a staple of the show.
